Troy's Early Childhood Too had Taleypo present a parent workshop on storytelling, puppetry and literacy in January. It was a fun, edu-entertaining evening. To read all about it see my handout called:

    Lewis and Clark SWAYS'

       Performers' Showcase

Every year for nearly 10 years, Taleypo has helped the Lewis and Clark Library System in Edwardsville put on a first class showcase. Talented performers from around the Midwest and beyond come together to showcase their best. This year was a banner year. The performers were outstanding and we had full-house for an audience. What energy!

Riverwind is proud to announce that     Barbara Freeman and  Connie Regan-Blake will be the Riverwind workshop   leaders for our 25th Silver anniversary. They were the wind in Riverwind so many years    ago when they came to Illinois to do a workshop in 1981. Many "to-be"   Riverwinders attended that workshop, but we didn't know each other back then. It wasn't until 15 years later that we discovered that they were the start of it all. Come and join us. There will be stories, workshops, and story swaps for everyone! Click HERE for more info.

    The Teacher's Corner

    Hello Fellow Teachers!

There is a lot of news since I last wrote. I've added many new pages onto my website. Among those already listed on this newsletter, they include the workshop papers I wrote for a parents' night at a local childhood center. The paper is called  Early Childhood Literacy with Storytelling and Puppetry

I also have some new study guides:

If you haven't looked at the "Teacher/Teller" pages lately, come on over. I revamped the pages and made them more user friendly. There are over 50 pages written just for you! There are links to educational articles, study guides, workshop handouts, and more.

If you need an edu-entertainer at your school, check out the column about the SWAYS showcase at the Lewis and Clark Library System. You can click on the program from there to find many fine entertainers.

Taleypo manned the phone bank for the first time this year for the St. Louis Storytelling Festival.. Many schools called in to reserve a spot for their classes. Keep in mind that this is a free festival with nationally and regionally known tellers. You can still take advantage of this by clicking on the link above. Hope to see you there!!

Although my new programming listed on the calendar says that it was developed for the libraries, they can also be presented to schools. Take a look at what Taleypo can bring to your school.

Be sure to stay tuned...I am currently working with nationally-known educational workshop presenter - Phyllis Hostmeyer to provide new reading/storytelling workshops for schools based on QAR and storytelling. More about it in future issues!

     Personal note to

      teacher  friends...

When I taught school from 1974 to 1985, I wanted to have something special about my teaching. I saw other teachers that had a "trademark" - they could sing or play a guitar; have great art projects or athletic prowess. I had none of that. When I discovered storytelling in 1981, I found that "something" while attending my very first storytelling workshop in Carlyle, IL. It was conducted by two cousins who called themselves "The Folktellers." Now, they travel around the world telling their stories. If you would like to get inspired to add that "something" to your classroom, please join the Riverwind Storytellers for their 25th Riverwind Whirlwind Weekend. We are bringing in Barbara Freeman and Connie Regan-Blake. They changed my way of teaching...forever. It's not too late to register. Even though the early bird special is past...just say that  you read about it on this e-newsletter, and we will charge you the early bird fee. Read all about it HERE

There are lots of empty spaces on Taleypo's calendar at present. So, keep in mind that Taleypo is on the IL ArtTour Roster.  I can help you write a mini-grant that can save you at least a third of the cost of my coming to your school, library, museum, etc. The grant needs to in 8 weeks prior to the event (no exceptions). Click HERE to see my entry into the roster Click HERE to see the mini-grant. Remember...I will help in any way I can!

I am also qualified through the State of Illinois to offer CPDUs for any workshop that I offer. See the list of workshops I offer and links to the handouts on my Teacher/Teller Pages. Click HERE.
