Shared Gypsy proverb
                  (from Meg Gilman)

We are all wanderers on this earth.
Our hearts are full of wonder, and
our souls are deep with dreams

  Taleypo in Harrisburg

In June, Samantha and Taleypo told stories at the Harrisburg District Library. The evening program was well-attended and a new friend "Amy" sent me this picture. It was on my computer when I arrived home. Samantha and I had a big laugh. She must have been telling one of her corny jokes when this pic was taken.

       Voyage to Book Island

        LaSalle Public Library

It was my first visit to this quaint community tucked into bluffs of the Illinois River. It was the debut of the new puppet play "Treasure On Book Island." I had a CD professionally recorded with a sea shanty lead-in to the play.  Peg-Leg Pete, Bud, a hermit crab and The Slithery Dee made an appearance. I wish I had pictures to share, but, of course, I forgot a camera. I also performed the show at Zion Lutheran in Belleville.

If you'd like to see the show, please come to the Mt. Olive Public Library  on July 18th at 2:00 pm. So far, that is the only other booking for this show. If you would like to book the puppet play, just email me at markinsella19@hotmail.com

The play is also on my website, if you'd like to read it. Just go to "Treasure On Book Island."

Stories 'n Stones:

Survivor on Book Island

    Edwardsville Public Library

Taleypo and archaeologist husband, Larry, teamed up for a new rendition of Stories 'n Stones. Marilyn gave a short review of the following books - Treasure Island, Swiss Family Robinson, Hatchet and the video Castaway with Tom Hanks. Then Larry talked about ways the characters could have made life easier on those desert islands if they only knew a few survival tricks. After a demonstration, he had the audience make cordage. Each participant went home with a small cord. Then I told "Coyote Brings the Fire." Larry finished by making fire. If you'd like to see this program, we will present it at Cahokia Mounds on July 15th at 2:30 pm.

See what's new on   my website:

 "Teacher/Teller Pages"

Come by and see a new page on learning styles called Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles  There is a listing of websites that deal with the different styles. Storytelling is one art form that seems to complement the different ways a child may learn.

Also note on this page that I was accepted by the Illinois State Board of Education to provide CPDUs to teachers. Now when you have me for a workshop, the teachers can count the hours for credit!!
