Since 2002, Award-winning, Experimental Archaeologist, Larry Kinsella, and his wife, Professional Storyteller, Marilyn Kinsella (aka Taleypo, the Storyteller) have combined their talents to produce informative, entertaining, hands-on programs for colleges, schools, libraries, museums, and special events. This year they pair Marilyn’s stories of darkness with Larry’s ancient fire-making technology. Question and Answer session follows each one-hour program. Marilyn begins by telling the riveting “Coyote and the Fire Beings.” (scroll down to see story). Coyote and his friends bring back fire to the people by facing the Fire Sisters - whose skin bubble and burn, with hair like red, orange and yellow flames, and eyes burn a charcoal red. Larry demonstrates various ways that the Ancients had to make fire – culminating with a hand-drill fire (rubbing two sticks together.) The story ends with “The Whistling Tsonaquas” – Using their wits, two teenage sons and their family, outwit the Tsonaquas in a fiery inferno.
