      • Marilyn Kinsella That is great! I forgot the first one. I still use the second blessing. I remember the Christmas hymn...We 3 kings of Orient are...smoking our Muriel cigars. And, when I taught there, the church hymn...There is a bomb in Gilligan. Yes, I could hear them singing it, but never corrected my class...somethings are just too funny. Sacrilegious...but funny.

Does anyone know anything about Miss Casteel (sp?) or Miss Lilly (sp?), or Sr. Angela?
    •
Eric Marxer I had Miss Lilly in 3rd grade, was she the one crutches from polio?
But no I have not heard any more about her.

    •
Anne Forrester nothing but Sr Angela ROCKED !!!!

    •
Donna Kapp Gorbutt Sr Angela is actually a cousin (2nd I think) of mine. My aunt is a Precious Blood nun, as is Sr Angela's sister. These two nuns are at the same house in Belleville. I heard something about sr Angela recently but don't really remember specifics; I know it was a compliment to her work; I'll find out more & update you.

What about the 2 ms. Hagerty's? I assume they probably are deceased? I think they taught 6th & 7th

    •
Monica Del Giudice Miss Lilly became Mrs. Nitzsch (sp?). I had her in second grade - her husband was military and they moved to Okinawa right after my second grade year. Ms. Cronin was the teacher who had had polio, and I don't know anything more about her.

    •
Anne Forrester thanks Donna I have very fond memories of her and so does my mom, I will tell her she is still in Belleville...Thanks again

    •
Helen Kapp Pearson Sr Angela is in IL, but not in Belleville. I can't remember where she is, but I think it might be Centraila

    •
Rita Fox Vanderleest Thanks Helen, I just might look her up!
  • @maggie - the guitar/3td teacher was Ms. Kiefer. She was at StA's when I first started teaching there. She was dearly loved by one and all. I believe she got married when she left and I never saw or heard from her.

Helen Kapp Pearson I took guitar lessons from Ms Kiefer and she was my 7th grade teacher. She was my favorite grade school teacher

  • "Give a cheer give a cheer for the boys who brew the beer in the cellars of Albert the Great...." am I the only one who remembers that? Hopefully not offending anyone!

    •
Phyllis Kapp Schneider Oh - the memories!! I remember that song too -- but I thought it said 'run, run, run, I think I smell a nun'!!

    • Marilyn Kinsella That song was sung when I was there and I graduated in 1961. So, I dare say we also sang it in the old barn that became a nightclub...hey, maybe that's where it all started!! Meggie...did I have you while I taught there - 73-79? I think maybe I had you for social studies or science, but maybe not as a reg. classroom teacher.

    • Kelly thank you for posting those pics of St Alberts final day, ya know I knew about it when it happened (remember my mom was the organist there) but I got very weepy looking at those. I remember when it was built and still have memories of Monsignor Schiendler out in the back on his tractor plowing. Isn't it funny what memories of our childhood we choose to keep with us. Thank you for this page
      •
Anne Forrester I wanted to clarify my mom was the organist back in the day like the 60's.

Eric Marxer Quite a few last names are familiar.....I graduated with their older siblings in 1973 .

    •
Phyllis Kapp Schneider Kelly -- thanks for posting that. Patti Herr and I were just taling about that and I think Rosie was supposed to try to get a copy from you. Patti's daughter is in 7th grade and they are hosting the 8th grade breakfast (my son Alex is in 8th grade). I think they are going to try to copy some of those ideas!!

    •
Kelly McCoy Hoffmann Actually - go out to the room I set up on Snapfish and you can see the whole thing. Yes, Rosie has a copy of it too.

    •
Karen Brown My name was formerly Ms. Karen Anielak.

    •
Phyllis Kapp Schneider Well Hello Karen. Howl are you? You were a great teacher, not only did we learn a lot but you were fun too. Are you still teaching?

    •
Kelly McCoy Hoffmann After all this time, I still can't bring myself to call you anything another than Ms. Anielak - although I do think you became Ms. Brown while I was still there. I have very fond memories of your class. You and Ms. Moore had a huge impact on me and what it meant to be a preteen/early teen girl in the late 70's.

    •
Karen Brown Phyllis, I sent you a message. Add to that you were a lot of fun yourself.yourself
  • Here's an invitation to join a group room where we can share images of St. Alberts.

Eric Marxer WOW I remember it was such a big deal to have it built.....The priests took several Sunday Masses to explain the features of the building and the meaning and symbology of the what decorated the inside.
