                        June Meeting

A hearty group of tellers met this June at Hartford Ribs. After one of Bob's spectacular meals, Riverwind settled in for some stories:

The Wind Cap by Jane Yolen - a magical wind cap explains that why, to this day, Captain Turtle is equally at home at sea and on land. Mary Lu Bretsch.

The Mermaids Gift - a Celtic tale of the good girl/bad girl who meet with a mermaid and receive unexpected gifts. Marilyn Kinsella

The Ghost of the Mountain - an original adventure tale replete with kings, queens, princesses and even a bat! Lucy Grondahl

And, knot to be forgotten - "Three on a String" - a story/joke told by Warren Wyman that received appropriate groans.

Tzutujil Mayans in Guatemala speak of simultanous Twin Realities:

The world of dreams and the world of work
these worlds are likened to the opposing
wings of a butterfly: the dream world
is one wing, and the awake world is the other.
They believe the wings must connect
at the heart of the butterfly to fly and live.
Real life occurs because of the interaction
of the wings.

The Life is the butterfly's heart.
Life, like the butterfly's heart,
is kept alive by the two opposing,
mirroring twin-like wings."
