Time sure flies...even faster than when we
are in high school! Since we last touched base, many good things have
transpired. The good news is that donations and pledges have been coming
in. What
seemed, at first, like an unattainable idea...is now a light at the end
of the proverbial tunnel.
Melanie Grimm recently sent out a mailing to our database. Here is more
information on how you can make this dream happen:

We were saddened, yet rejoice, to hear
that Connie Gass Kinsella, Class of 1933, passed on to her heavenly
reward. Her life exemplified what it meant to be a graduate of the
Academy. Her life was dedicated to helping her family, her community,
and her church. She wrote about some of her experiences on the AND
website. Click HERE to read about her
days at the Academy. We are grateful that Connie became a "Crusader"
even after her passing by leaving a $7500.00 legacy to Althoff in the
name of the Academy. Besides her sisters, Connie's daughter, JoAnn
Kinsella Nadler, Class of '65, graduated from AND.
There is another way to donate to future
projects in the name of the Academy, When you go to a funeral and the
family requests that you make "a donation of one's own choice," why not
make that donation to the Althoff building fund in the name of the
Academy? When a classmate passes, it would be nice to remember them with
a donation to the fund, as well. Remember, that after we secure the
naming rights, we have other goals to reach.
The
future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
Eleanor Roosevelt

Snips and Snaps
The Academy Seal of Approval
AND Faces on Facebook!!
Since forming the AND group on
Facebook, 45 members have joined up. It's been interesting to get some
notes from our fellow classmates. Here are some Snips and Snaps from our
AND ALUM Wall:
“School's
out, Memories past, Don't ever doubt, Our friendship will last.”
Hi to All, Like others, I am
new to Facebook and got on just to try to find
a few high school & college friends and to try
to catch up on their lives. I am Katie Ward
now but was Kathleen Burns when I was at AND,
Class of '64. I see a couple of others from
that class and look forward to connecting with
them....
I have been in the Chicago area since 1968 but
get back to the St. Louis area a couple of
times of year to visit family. They mostly all
live in MO now. I am looking forward to
reconnecting and to learning about former
classmates on Facebook.

Becky (Czerny) Canterbury
I would love to hear from any Class of 1967 members.
Hi Everyone! This is Mary Ellen Sullivan Sliment - so now you have both of the Mary Ellen's from the class of 1965! I've only been on FB for about 6 months, but I've found it to be a great way to keep in touch with all my family & friends across the US. I was widowed 1 1/2 years ago. I have lived... in St. Louis for over 40 years and 2 of my daughters - Laura and Karen - live nearby. My daughter, Anne and her husband, Jeff, live in Chicago and I just learned in July that they are expecting their first baby in February - my 10th grandchild. My oldest just started high school. Some of my favorite things to do are, naturally, hanging with the children and watching their sports, golf, hiking, bowling, reading, geocaching and travel. My mother (she's almost 87) and I are going to Italy & Greece next month - can't wait.
Hi everyone. This is Mary Ellen Budde Wittenberg.
I had a great time at the last reunion in 2005. I am living in Denver. I am a widow now for 12 years. I have been with Continental Airlines for 39 years. I am working at the Denver airport at Continental so if you are in the airport stop by and say hi. I will finally be a grandma in December. I have my son and daughter in law in Denver and my daughter is in Las Vegas.
I do miss Belleville and love coming home. It is always great seeing all of my ND and Althoff family.
Mary Ellen
Hi Everybody ~This is Kathy (Cassin) Crismon, class of `64. I live in the west end of Belleville (some of us haven't traveled far from the homeland.) After 13 years in a super job in Marketing with the Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, my position was eliminated in recent months. The job search situation in today's economy is lots of fun (which I hope no one else has the joy of experiencing.) If anyone knows of an opportunity, contact me at kscrismon@yahoo.com - Would love to hear from you!
Or you can contact me anyway just to say hi & catch up!
All Facebook users: There is now an Academy of Notre Dame, Belleville, IL group. Check it out and join in on the conversation and updates. Just click the group icon at the bottom of
your home page to find it. You can post on the wall that is there, but
others have to go onto the site to read it. However, I found a nifty way to write to all the members, and
the post shows up in their email! Just go to the left side of the page towards the top. There is a list of commands. One is "message to all members". Just click on that
to write and your message will go the members' email boxes. However, if you wish, you can also post it on the Wall. Hope to see you there!! Marilyn
The Class of 1954 recently had their 50th Class Reunion. I was hoping for a report with some pictures. Please share. I'd love to show them in the next issue. Anyone??

Does this bring back memories? The Living Rosary was always the highlight of our spring. Can you guess what year this was? Click HERE for the answer
