Two great workshop hosted by renown coach, Don Falkos
Finding the Best: 9:00 a.m.-Noon
Coaching is all about finding the best: finding the best people for your coaching circle; finding the best time and place to meet; finding the best method of coaching each other; finding the best way to offer coaching at guild meetings. All of which comes down to finding the best within yourself. In the morning session, we will engage in an in-depth exploration of coaching methodology and the application of the art of coaching as a tool for finding the best storytellers within ourselves and others.
Tell Me a Story 1:00-4:00 p.m.
The afternoon session will begin with a brief review of the coaching method we examined in the morning. For the remainder of our time together we will exercise what we have learned. In a gentle and supportive atmosphere, storytellers chosen by lottery will receive guided group coaching. You will learn how to be in control of the feedback you receive. You will practice listening fully in order to offer useful feedback. You will find that you benefit as much from observing and participating in the process of coaching others as you do from receiving coaching yourself. You will depart encouraged and inspired.
Cost: $25 each workshop for Fox Valley Folklore Society members // $35 for non-members or at-the-door registrations
· No one will be compelled to tell a story. However, you are encouraged to be prepared to share at least one story. In this setting, a 5-minute to 7-minute story works best. A shorter story is fine. If the story you wish to work on is significantly longer, you should plan on telling an excerpt of no more than 7 minutes.
· During the afternoon session, we may break up into small groups for part of the time so that more people have the opportunity to tell a story and receive coaching. The goal is that everyone who wishes to tell a story will have the opportunity to be coached.
