Drew is Four!

What a magical age! Drew is now talking. It is such a delight to hear her thoughts. I can watch her and see her train of thoughts. She is still sweet natured...with a few bouts of stomping off when she doesn't get her way. Sometimes, it happens at the strangest of situations. But, she comes around.

She is still into "Talk, Grandma, talk!" She has a whole ranch of animals but her Frosty, Rudolph, Wolf and stuffed horseys are her favorites. The animals try to get along but sometimes they get on each others' nerves and get a bit sassy. It's the first thing she wants to do when she comes over..."Talk!" She loves to sing and watch the You-tube videos of Frosty and Rudolph. She asks for them a lot.

She started school in September at William Holliday. Her teacher is a young man, Mr. Shane. Drew adores Mr. Shane. She's coming home with something new each day. She can spell her name and recognizes most of the alphabet and some of their sounds. She's even sight-reading some words. Mr. Shane read a book "Go Away, Big Green Monster" and she can tell the book all the way through. He must have taught them some songs at school, too. One is so funny. "Five little monkeys swinging in a tree, teasing Mr. Alligator...Can't catch me! (then her voice whispers...)Along came the alligator and SNAP... that monkey right out of the tree." It is just too cute! She sings other songs too.

We went to the library story times, when she was three, but now that she is four, she is so much more into sitting and listening. Perhaps, school had something to do with that, too. She had a lot of fun the day they got chalk and made chalk pictures on the sidewalk outside of the library. On Halloween they got to wear their costumes and she paraded around in her darling cowgirl outfit. See pics below if you don't believe me!

We held her fourth birthday party at our house. Chrissie found a Thomas the Train set and table for a really good deal. She was sooo surprised. We went outside to a slip and slide and other water fun. I thought of bribing her with Thomas engines, if she would only go potty. That did not seem to work. It wasn't until a couple of weeks before she went to school that the light bulb finally went "ding!" Can't say I miss that part of watching her.

She is now wanting to do it herself. She can get fully dressed...and undressed. She loves to come over and take a bath. She even lets us put on the whirlpool. At first it was too loud for her, but now she loves it.

She is has quite a dramatic flair. Be still my beating heart. At one moment she can be silly and the next pouting. When she tells me stories, her expressions are priceless. She has a puppet stage upstairs and often she puts on an impromptu puppet play.

She also loves to paint and color, and she figured out how to do dots to dots. For somebody's birthday they gave out Play-do. She loves to work Play-do. But, she left it open one time...no Play-do...at least till Christmas!

Her and Grandpa go for walks in the woods and often up to the park. It's her Grandpa time...when he's not too tired from all he does during the day.

We thank God every day for every minute we get to spend with this sweet little girl. We can only hope that we get to watch her grow into a young lady. Then our lives would be complete.
