Around the World on a Magic Carpet Ride
It is difficult to know for sure which country lays claim to certain stories. There are versions of the same story in many cultures. However, it is generally agreed that some stories are definitely from a particular culture. The following is not intended for "proof" of a story's origin. There are folklorists who do that sort of work. There are some useful sites at the bottom of the page that will be a better resource. What I have done on this page is to list the stories that I tell under the country that I found them. There are two cultures that are not listed - Native American and Americana. I have special pages for those stories...just click on the words.
